The first problem I had was finding the entrance from the road. Overall awesome. (My parents also complained about the service when we asked for new towels, but I'm not sure what the exact problem was there). They were, however, severely understaffed on Saturday night. This is the nicest restaurant in Death Valley. The majority of our rooms are available to book via our online reservation system. The steak was good but oddly prepared with tomatoes and andouille sausage. Several other people were trying to find the entrance (in the dark) at the same place. The lounge, lobby, and bar area have all received extensive updates including new furnishings, a completely new bar, and historic paintings that help tell the story of the first pioneers that graced our oasis. One on the best employees was the bar tender, fun and a great bar tender. The hotel management shows absolutely no interest in resolving this problem, instead preferring to point fingers. Since we were going to be in the park over my husband's birthday, we went straight there to make reservations for his birthday. Skip the overpriced food at the resort..It is a rip off!! We stayed in the 700 building. Well the Ciabatta bun was good. The hostess gave me a big, unapologetic grin and said I'd like the next day better because it wouldn't be so crowded. I got two agate slices, and they gave me two plastic holders for them.Hubby & I had a lot of fun looking at all the exhibits while daughter ran off to go play bocce and shuffleboard some more. At over $250 per night, we had some expectations. Our backyard encompasses 3.4 million acres in one of the most unique settings in the world.
