Went on recommendation from website. Not the first time I’ve dined there. Whilst the food was tasty, service was appalling. we will most likely never go back. Pay a bit more and go to Claridges for the real experience and great service or less at The Park Room at Grosvenor House for lovely staff and food.More, Dear C6206VYjanetb, Under the direction of Executive Chef Richard Galli, The Dining Room sources fresh, high-quality ingredients from suppliers across the British Isles, from Romney Marsh lamb to fish from the Cornish coast, as part of its commitment to serving the finest British food. All dishes seemed to have been hiked up in price by an extra £5 to pay for the additional COVID measures I suspect. The lunch is remarkable value for the quality of the food. Our Earl Grey tea was perfectly served and the addition of hot water kept the strength as we wished. the manager who took our order was not too helpful and rather unhelpfully suggested that if i was still hungry after my main course i could order some extra potatoes! The waiters were quick and efficient. Next I went through the menu thoroughly and chose a starter of salted beetroot with ewes cheese and BlackBerry jus. Excellent service, we were late for our seating, however they made a way to serve us and after we ordered we were not rushed out at all, food size waa small but very filling and tasty . It was a delightfully perfect evening that our friends and my husband and I enjoyed thoroughly. After dinner, we had no desire to leave! Never the less we had a delightful afternoon tea with two refills of sandwiches without charge, which is not always the case in other Hotels. No tea refill was offered. Lastly the dessert. I was a little disappointed in the meal. "Girolle mushroom risotto, black truffle and Tunworth cheese", "Orkney scallop ceviche, English cobnut, apple and Jerusalem artichoke", "Brioche crusted Foie gras, pickled black figs, fennels seeds and ‘hobnob’", Located in the exclusive area of Belgravia, The Dining Room is an elegant setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had an absolutely disastrous dinner at Wright Brothers the previous evening, embarrassingly awful so I was hoping The Goring would erase those memories and wow did it. A lunch outing. The menu of refined British food using the finest quality produce has attracted great interest on the London restaurant scene. The gentleman's recommendations were superb. Don't forget many 5 Star Hotels haven't re-opened yet and I am really grateful to those who have.More, Dear Anthony Go, and the other had Roast Chicken. The entire team and I thank you for your support during these turbulent times. The elegant spaces, coupled with the hotel’s impeccable service and food, make The Goring the perfect choice for any event - be it a glamorous dinner, an intimate drinks reception or a high level business meeting. + Read more. Rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned and paired with sweetbreads and nicely spiced aubergine. I was disappointed by the snobbishness of the service, i.e., in view of the price tag attached to the beautifully presented but only slightly above average food. The sommeliers are an absolute credit to The Goring as each of them were able to make expert recommendations (I know this is their job, but even still; it's nice to appreciate a perfected skill). The sandwiches were not stale but certainly weren’t fresh. Didn’t feel hurried at all and we were all stuffed! Very tasty - especially the eggs with lobster! They were fetched without apology (and by my reckoning the petit fours weren’t at all up to Michelin star standard).Once the drinks were served we appeared to have become invisible and when I eventually managed to catch someone’s eye to ask for the bill - I paid it and we left without so much as a “good evening” from any member of the restaurant staff.I would like to return again, especially as the Beef Wellington I saw being served looked so splendid, but the matters that went awry, and the fashion in which they were handled rather puts me off a return.
